If you’ve moved into a new place and it’s time to put your stamp on it, or you’re simply looking to do something new with a home that you’ve been living in for a long time, a good place to start is with deciding which interior design aesthetic you want to build the interiors around. Having a unified style in place will give the home more cohesion and show the world that thought has gone into getting it just right. Read on to find out more about some of the options to consider.
Art Deco
Art Deco is the style of design and architecture that dates back to the roaring 20s. It’s one hundred years later now and the love people have for this style is undiminished. In fact, it’s had a bit of a revival in recent years and lots of people are now incorporating furniture pieces with an Art Deco aesthetic into your homes. It might be something you want to do too.
Mid-Century
Speaking of popular home interior design styles, there are few that have a greater impact than the mid-century aesthetic. If you’re looking to create a style that’s simple and classic and that never seems to go out of fashion, this might be the one for you. It allows you to incorporate lots of Scandi design elements as well, and that’s another reason why people love it.
Stripped Back Minimalism
Minimalism is a design style that’s not for everyone. If you’re someone who likes their home to be full of your possessions and the things you love, this is not going to be for you. But for many, a stripped down approach and a degree of simplicity is what’s best. And it clearly appeals to lots of younger people these days, and for a variety of different reasons.
Vintage Farmhouse
If you’re someone who likes a cottagey type of aesthetic and the farmhouse touches, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t build your entire aesthetic around this. There are so many great vintage farmhouse furniture pieces out there these days and they’re very much in style right now. It’s a great way to make your house feel homier and more comforting as well.
Industrial Edge
A style that’s become increasingly popular in recent years is the industrial style. This is when a lot of concrete is used and furniture pieces often have metal accents and things like that. It’s certainly a design approach that splits opinions. Some people absolutely love it and others find it a little too cold. But when you get it right and get creative with it, it really can look great.
Choosing the style and aesthetic that’s going to work for you is something that only you can do. Everyone is unique and has their own preferences when it comes to the style of their interiors. If you’re not sure which of the options above is right for you, do some more research and look at examples to gain a broader understanding.
